Arita ware has been produced for over 400 years in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture, one of Japan’s most celebrated porcelain centers. Known for its luminous white porcelain body and highly skilled painting techniques, Arita ware has earned recognition both in Japan and abroad.
Visitors to Arita can experience its rich ceramic heritage firsthand—walking among old kiln sites, climbing traditional climbing kilns, watching craftsmen paint by hand in their studios, and exploring galleries run by local kilns. Fujii’s works are admired for their depth of color and meticulous brushwork, carrying the spirit of traditional Japanese craftsmanship into the present day.
